Dude's Birthday

When Ian wakes up in the morning Sydney gets really close to his face and snuggles him and says "Hey Dude!...Hey Dude...hahaha!" So now we call him Dude. The nickname is actually funny considering he's pint sized, I like to part his hair and put him in polo shirts. First glance; "Dude" is not the word that might come to mind. Like everything else, this too can change.

So here we are! One year later! I honestly didn't think we would see it! Just kidding...well sort of...

So instead of highlighting what a long and exhausting year it's been; I've decided to highlight the many things that make Ian the awesome little boy he is today:

  • His complete unconditional admiration for Sydney. Mornings are the best at our house. If Sydney is up first and downstairs; on the way down the stairs with Ian, he starts looking for her. The second he spots her, he's all smiles and then...well...let the "Dudes" begin!
  • His love for sport balls. He loves soccer balls, footballs, basketballs...this makes for one happy Dad!
  • His love for climbing. On EVERYTHING. Fireplaces, Mom, Stairs, Chairs, desks, etc...you get the point. He's part monkey and boy. Need I say more?!
  • His excitement for his parents when we pick him up from school. I swear when we drop him off, he thinks we will never see him again and when we pick him up he acts like "They came back!" Talk about tug at the heart strings...
  • His BIG BLUE EYES. Lady killers these things. I'm hooked...
  • His half flirty smile...again...lady killer.
  • His scream/shrill/squeal (whatever you want to call it) when he's eating. Dude loves to eat. I have no idea where he gets this from. ;)

The list goes on...seriously I could sit here and tell you all the wonderful things about Ian (and Sydney) until next Thursday.

So this weekend we have his Cowboy Birthday party with the family and his old Babysitter, Kerry and her kids. I'm so happy they could make it! I'm so grateful for Kerry in so many ways. Leaving your baby at 10 weeks so you can go back to work is a difficult decision to make. Kerry made it very easy for me. I know at her house; he received as much love (if not more) than I could have given him. Thank you, Kerry. I am forever in debt to you!

Yeehaw! Pictures of Dude's party to follow...stay tuned.

Have a great week, enjoy the weather summer is coming to a close. I noticed this the other night when it started to get dark at 8:30...

Love,
Katie
