Happy Sunday!
It's hot here in Wisconsin and with the heat comes clouds?? If it's going to be hot, shouldn't it be sunny...I KNOW!! Oh well - we're never happy as far as the weather is concerned. It's too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too humid, etc... We are getting some much needed rain!
This morning we started our day by waking up and having breakfast and heading outside before the gods of heat and humidity would wreak havoc on our backyard. 8:30 this morning we're all suited up and heading outdoors. Minus Ian since he was napping. I thought today would be a good day for bubble blowing - one of Sydney's favorite pastimes that seems to be one of those amazing things that kids belly laugh over!! So we're blowing bubbles and one end of the wand is one big circle and the other end is two small circles. So I make bubbles using the end with the two smaller circles:
Sydney: Baby Bubbles!
As of recent; everything Sydney sees on a miniature scale becomes "baby" in size. It's really cute.
Me: Yea...baby bubbles!
Sydney: baby brother bubbles!
Me: Yea...are we blowing baby brother bubbles?
Sydney: Yes, for Ian! Baby Brother Bubbles!
So these are the times when I know she has a big heart for her brother. Even when he's not around, she's thinking of him. I am excited to see how their relationship ends up. They love each other every day, all day - except for on the days that I need them to for the camera! Ha!
I don't have a good segue into the next topic so I'll just jump right into it.
I've been struggling with the return of my vitiligo. These silly white spots where your skin has lost the pigment. Some would think no big deal but to those of us that have it, it's unsightly and just plain old invasive. When I first got it, I think I was between 13 and 14. It was awful! Seemed to be everywhere and just obnoxious which caused me to become really self conscious about it. So then it sort of got better and the spots started to fill in with my normal pigment color. So obviously I started to feel better about it. When I was pregnant with Sydney they seemed to get even better and in fact to someone who had just met me or someone that didn't know that I have it; wouldn't have noticed. Then I had Ian. No problems with it coming or going. Well now...how do they say in horror movies...IT'S BAAACCK!!! My face, my hands, my arms, my feet...I guess it's not awful and according to the pictures I've googled; it could get a lot worse. I want to know why at this time I am getting it!! Is it hormonal? Is it immune related?? I have no idea and for once I can't self diagnose from the information that I am finding on the internet! Ha! (the kids' doctor loves me!) So of course I am back to being self conscious about and it having it on my mind - all the time. So here's the point (I do have one)...yesterday I am on my run and I turn the corner by my friend Darren and Peggy's house and their neighbor's yard has the most unbelievable flowers. Any kind of flower you can imagine. Their garden is a butterfly haven!!! So as I am running; this beautiful white butterfly flies by my face, around my head and for 1/2 block doesn't seem to leave my side. It's beautiful!!! I don't know if there are such species as white butterflies or if it's albino but I am taking this as a sign. It was so beautiful! Not that I am not going to worry about it but I've decided not to make it a big deal. The people that know me and see me everyday hardly notice it anymore and those are the people that matter most to me.
As David gets into this photography thing, I've decided to start posting some of his pictures. He actually has eye for eclectic and timeless architectural objects. Stay tuned!
Have a great week and enjoy what is left of summer!
Love,
Katie
