Phoenix Here We Come! Maybe...

Here we are in the dead of winter in Wisconsin and all I can think of is going someplace warm. I was truly hoping that work travels would take me someplace warm, no such luck. We are going to DC and Syracuse that I know of so far. I apparently drew the short straw for San Diego! Since warmth is not coming to me anytime soon, I will go to warmth. I am on a crusade to find 80 and sunny someplace in the U.S. this spring! Here Goes:

I go online and check our Frequent Flier miles...okay, we're doing okay. I think I have enough for two tickets to anywhere and maybe would have to buy Sydney's and Ian can sit on David's lap. Which would be worth it. David has enough Hilton Honor points to choke a horse so we would be okay if we needed a hotel....but then my brother David in Arizona invites me to come out in April to stay at their new house. "Hell YEAH!!"..."I mean...sure let me check and see what we have going on....ah, em!!" So now we have a destination in mind. We went last year, stayed at a resort with a waterpark, my brother and his family came and stayed with us and we had a blast!! So I go on line and now I want to try to make this trip cost $0. I challenge myself...WHY THE F*** DO AIRLINES MAKE IT SO IMPOSSIBLE TO USE YOUR FREQUENT FLIER MILES!?!??!?!?!

At first I do multiple attempts online to book "reward" flights. No go. Okay...so I call. Very nice people, in fact they were annoyed that nothing was panning out. Northwest, Midwest, Delta, Us Airways...You can all just go and su....nevermind. Blackout dates, no reward seats available, no 1/2 cash 1/2 miles deals available that day...what is that about? So I have learned that all this frequent flier BS that airlines use to get you to book on their airline, is just that...BS.

So I found three Midwest tickets NONSTOP to Phoenix and I think I might do those. I will be paying full price...my free vacation to warmth just jumped from $0 to $930. Sigh.....

Now that I have publicly damned the airlines...David is on a 4:00 Northwest flight home from Houston...I love you honey, make it home safe!

Wishing it was Sunny and 80,
Katie
