Sydney is now mocking us and Ian is mocking Sydney. The best way he knows how anyway.
The other night I am getting the kids' dinner ready (Sydney and Ian now sit together at the dinner table - really cute) and Ian gets "squirly" when dinner is being prepared, sort of like his Dad...major anticipation of what's about to be placed before him, so he starts trying to climb out of his seat, whine a little bit and bang on the table. Sydney is sitting nex to thim and says: "Enough Ian! ENOUGH!".
One guess on where she got that from. I know, I know...I am working on it.
Ian looks back at Sydney and screams! Oh no...not boyish "shut it big sister" scream...girl screams..."girl running away from big bad scary guy in horror movie" screams...I was actually quite impressed. Falsetto perhaps!?
Ian's teachers say he's been screaming like that when he's playing with something very intently or when they are changing his diaper; apparently both equally scream worthy. Which reminds me, the other day his teachers also told me that they were having a lot of fun with his hair - they were doing the "Donald" combover on him. They are going to take pictures next time. NEXT TIME!??! Oiye! No wonder my children don't like to get dressed, hair washed/combed, teeth brushed and diapers changed...they are props at school! ;) Stay tuned for a post of those pictures...sure to be entertaining.
Updates:
David is back to traveling quite a bit. Some small 2 or 3 day trips a couple times per month. They seem managable when he's making plans to go but I have serious anxiety the days leading up to him going. Couple of things about his travel: safety, kids, house and oh my sanity!!! That's right...where did that go!? We have a running joke (more his than mine) that "shit hits the fan" when he leaves. It does. I have no idea why that is, but it does and I have had to manage to overcome many obstacles on my own with two babies. Recently though, I have realized how difficult it is for him to be gone from us. I think I was being selfish and only thinking that it's difficult on us (me specifically) when he's gone, but he doesn't enjoy being away from home so much either. I now know that...so I try not to make a big deal out of it anymore. It is what it is until something changes. Go with the flow. He is doing quite well at his job and making great strides with territory that has been untouched for so long. Travel is a necessary evil right now and we both know that it will pay off in the long run. Keeping both our spirits in check about it; we remind ourselves that it could be a lot worse.
Me (Katie) still working full time - really loving my job. Getting some travel for work under my belt as well. Going to Denver at the end of the month for another Harley-Davidson Summer Dealer Meeting. I am excited to again meet up with so many of these awesome dealers that I have been working with for so many years.
Still trying to run. I am probably averaging 3 times per week. Bless David's heart for letting me go and he knows how crucial it is that I stick with it. My goal is to do a couple of 5K races this summer and possibly next spring, I would love, LOVE to be able to do a half marathon. I have already been running up to 3.5 miles each time...I need to increase my mileage...it's all mental at this point. I stick with a route that I am comfortable in...I know how long it takes me, I know the exact distance and I stick to it. I need to expand my routes, resulting in adding more mileage. We'll see. I see some new running gear appearing in my closet in the near future! Hmmm.....
Sydney is growing like a weed! Totally thinning out and getting so tall. Our neighbor; Miss Sara cut Sydney's hair and it's absolutely darling. I will post pictures of that soon. I can't believe she sat still for her - while she was potty training too!!! Oh! I do know why - she was eating a ginormous chocolate cookie with her friends Amelia and Porter! Silly me.
Sydney is learning her ABC's at school, tracing letters and numbers, singing songs, dancing and yes...still potty training! She did great last Saturday. She wore her Tink undies all day and always told us when she had to go potty. Except for one minor accident while playing outside with the kids. What's a little tinkle outside!? My mom would be proud. Other than those bigger things and repeating things we say (god help me)...things are so good with her and she's really developing her own little personality, which is always so much fun to see. She's a really great big sister to Ian and they are going to be best friends.
Ian is doing awesome! Especially since his tubes. He's eating, drinking and sleeping AWESOME. His tubes are draining so they are doing their job. Ian has ZERO teeth so far. Which makes me want to hang onto his smile full of gums as long as I can. :) He can eat just about everything under the sun too as long as it's small enough. I swear that kid has molars somewhere in there. Ian's doing well at Little Dumplings; the teachers think he's a hoot. Especially Miss Erin. In her arms I can usually find him when it's time to pick him up. :) I am so grateful to have a wonderful place to take my kids and know they are well cared for.
Well there it is a HUGE nutshell. Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged but it's been a busy last couple of months and hopefully I can keep the momentum.
This week has been really bizarre in the world of people in the public eye:
- Ed McMahon passed away. I remember watching him with Johnny Carson and Star Search.
- Farrah Fawcett passed away. Very long battle she finally lost to cancer.
- Michael Jackson passed away as well. This is very sad. Shocking and so sad. Everyone is blogging, facebooking and tweeting about it. Talk about someone who has touched everyone's lives. It's amazing. Now I can grasp the feeling of what people felt when Elvis died. Just happened last night and it's still surreal.
Count your blessings and cherish each day as it comes, whatever it may bring.
Stay tuned for pics - they are on their way I swear!
Much Love,
Katie
